Warmer and becoming breezy today ahead of a north Pacific cold front forecast to reach se Oregon tonight and sw Idaho Saturday. Frontal zone will bring clouds but no rain. Even the hi-res models produce no more than sprinkles over highest terrain. However, the front will bring significant cooling along with gusty winds Saturday afternoon, gusts as strong as 35-40 mph in the Snake Basin se of Boise. The core of cool air aloft will move eastward across BC and Alberta, but a significant secondary lobe will pass through our CWA Saturday night and Sunday with even further cooling and continued gusty winds. Sunday looks moist enough for a 20-40 percent chance of showers in Valley County/ID and cold enough for snow above 5500 feet MSL. Skies will briefly clear Sunday night and with winds slowly decreasing, Monday morning looks cold with low temps in the 30s in the mountains through 40s in the valleys. && .LONG TERM /Monday through Friday/... The secondary cold lobe will exit rapidly east early Monday morning as another cool upper trough rushes in from the Gulf of Alaska. Eastern OR will cloud over by sunrise Monday and western ID by noon, with showers to follow later Monday and Monday night, continuing Tuesday. This time the core of cool air aloft will be farther south, passing across northern Idaho Tuesday, and again reinforced by a secondary lobe on Wednesday. Cool, breezy, and showery weather will therefore continue through Wednesday night.
