362 FXUS62 KFFC 051732 AFDFFC Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Peachtree City GA 132 PM EDT Fri Jun 5 2026 ...New 18Z Aviation Discussion... .KEY MESSAGES... - Dry weather and seasonal temperatures persist through Saturday. - Diurnally driven showers and storm chances return next week. && .SHORT TERM... (Today through Saturday) Issued at 200 AM EDT Fri Jun 5 2026 Surface high pressure over the Southeast will promote continued dry weather and warming temperatures for North and Central Georgia today and Saturday. Other than some passing high clouds, expect sunny skies with temperatures warming into the 80s areawide. High pressure will begin to slide to the east and we'll see a return to more southerly winds. Thus temperatures may be a touch warmer than yesterday. More of the same can be expected by Saturday, though temperatures will climb into the mid to upper 80s perhaps lower 90s across parts of Central Georgia. && .LONG TERM... (Saturday night through Thursday) Issued at 200 AM EDT Fri Jun 5 2026 The long term will be largely characterized by a gradual increase in rain chances, primarily of the diurnal variety. Midlevel ridging begins to flatten southward by late weekend with some slight moisture return, primarily west of the state. A more appreciable increase in moisture and resultant diurnal rain chances as southwesterly flow becomes prevalent by Monday. Through midweek, a general return to a muggier, more summerlike airmass punctuated by diurnally-enhanced convection can be expected. Significant uncertainty remains by midweek regarding pattern evolution as a surface high drops into the Northeast, potentially sending a backdoor front southwestward, though whether it makes it this far southwest is unclear. Temperatures will remain fairly seasonal with highs largely in the 80s and lows ranging through the 60s to near 70. && .AVIATION... (18Z TAFS) Issued at 131 PM EDT Fri Jun 5 2026 A SCT CU field at 5k ft is expected this afternoon after 15Z, though VFR conditions will continue through the TAF cycle. Winds will be tricky through the day as they will linger out of the SE before becoming SW after 02Z. //ATL Confidence...18Z Update... High on all elements Vaughn && .PRELIMINARY POINT TEMPS/POPS...
