...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 1145 PM CDT THIS EVENING...



* WHAT...Urban and small stream flooding caused by excessive 

  rainfall is expected.



* WHERE...A portion of west central Texas, including the following 

  counties, Callahan, Jones, Shackelford and Taylor.



* WHEN...Until 1145 PM CDT.



* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. 



* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...

  - At 940 PM, radar showed showers and thunderstorms with heavy

    rain moving north and overspreading the Abilene area. A quick

    three quarters of an inch to 1.5 inches is expected in a

    short period of time. This will cause street flooding in

    Abilene, and minor flooding of low-lying and poor drainage

    areas.

  - Some locations that will experience flooding include...

    Abilene, Merkel, Tye, Tuscola, Hawley, Buffalo Gap, Dyess

    Afb, Caps, View, Potosi, Hamby, Coronados Camp, Impact, Kirby

    Lake, Hodges, Stith, Lake Fort Phantom Hill, Camp Tonkawa,

    Lake Abilene and Ovalo.

  - This includes Interstate 20 between Mile Markers 268 and 296.



    This includes the following Low Water Crossings...

    Intersections along Buttonwillow Parkway, Butternut

    Underpass, Intersections along Sammons Street, Texas Avenue

    at Arnold Boulevard, Curry Lane from Clack Street to Catclaw

    Drive, FM 89 crossing Scott Hollow, FM 3308 crossing Draw,

    Antilley Rd. crossing Button Willow Creek, FM 89 crossing Elm

    Creek and US 84 frontage Road crossing Little Elm Creek.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood 

deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious of the dangers of 

flooding at night.
