Hot and dry conditions will persist over western NM through Tuesday with increasing west to southwest winds. Elevated to locally critical fire weather is possible for a couple hours each day, especially in the Four Corners. Eastern NM will see another round of showers and storms today with gusty winds and locally heavy rainfall east of the central mountain chain. Dry and hot conditions will spread to the entire region by Sunday. High-based showers and dry storms may then return to areas of central NM Monday and Tuesday with downburst wind gusts possible. Any dry lightning strikes have the potential to create new fire starts as breezy winds linger into Wednesday. ................................................................
