408 FNUS55 KCYS 051705 FWFCYS Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Southeast Wyoming/Western Nebraska National Weather Service CHEYENNE WY 1105 AM MDT Fri Jun 5 2026 FIRE WEATHER WATCH IN EFFECT FROM SATURDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH SATURDAY EVENING .DISCUSSION... Critical fire weather conditions are expected through the weekend with near-record high temperatures. Southwest flow aloft will advect hot, dry desert air into southeast Wyoming and the Nebraska panhandle. Relative humidity will fall below 15 percent with gusty winds expected both days. A Fire Weather Watch is in effect for Saturday afternoon for the Nebraska panhandle and far southeast Wyoming as this is where fuels are deemed critical and ready to burn. Isolated thunderstorms will also be possible Saturday afternoon and evening, leading to the threat of dry lightning. The rest of southeast Wyoming remains fairly green with non-critical fuels from moisture in May. Although fuels, are green, critical fire weather conditions are also expected in these areas. Hot, dry, and breezy conditions will continue into next week.
