Light and variable winds are forecast overnight before becoming more east-southeasterly during the mid to late afternoon and increasing to around 15-20 mph sustained with some gusts up to 30 mph. Elevated to briefly critical fire weather conditions are forecast across Colorado fire zones 252,253 and 254 during the afternoon hours. There is a 20% chance that critical conditions could last 3 or more hours but confidence is too low to issue a Red Flag Warning. Starting around 3pm mountain time through the early evening across western portions of Colorado fire zones 252 and 253, a 15% chance of some thunderstorms with gusty erratic winds and cloud to ground lightning; dry lighting may be possible as well. Similar conditions are forecast Sunday but winds may not be present across eastern Colorado where the lowest humidity is forecast. The stronger winds are forecast across NW Kansas and SW Nebraska. Temperatures in the upper 90s and 100s next week favor low RH values across portions of the Tri-State area.
