High pressure aloft will remain centered across the southeastern CONUS through the first half of the weekend, maintaining moderately strong southwesterly winds and a scattered-broken coverage of high clouds. In the low-levels, south-southwesterly flow will gradually begin to advect Gulf moisture northward into the region, with MinRH values of 40-50% today increasing into the 45-55% range by Saturday. However, chances for wetting rain will remain less than 5%. Mixing heights of 6000-7000 ft and transport winds around 10 MPH will lead to good smoke dispersion both today and Saturday for most of the region (with the exception of northeast AL, where indices will be in the generally good range). In the extended portion of the forecast, it appears as if we will enter a wet weather pattern once again by Sunday with medium-high chances for showers and thunderstorms predicted each day through Tuesday. A gradual decrease in the coverage of showers and storms is expected on Wednesday and Thursday. Fog potential over the next few days: Patchy mist and fog will be possible each of the next few mornings, but primarily near large water sources. Potential for Red Flag Conditions: None at this time.
