Gusty southeast winds and low relative humidity has prompted a Red Flag Warning for Fire Weather Zone 204 (Eastern Panhandle/Crescent Lake NWR) this afternoon and evening. Despite some green up from recent rainfall, latest reports from that area indicate that fire growth potential remains and a Red Flag Warning has been issued. Winds remain gusty tonight as humidity values recover to 65 to 75% overnight. Near critical to even critical conditions could develop again Sunday afternoon as similar conditions to today are expected. Somewhat better humidity recovery then Sunday night, in the 72 to 82% range. A cold front will slip south through the area Sunday night with winds switching to the north-northeast into Monday morning. By Monday afternoon winds return to southeasterly, which should allow for higher humidity/dew points to spread into western Nebraska. There will also be a chance for a wetting rain Monday night as thunderstorms develop eastward across the area off the higher terrain to the west.
