Through 11 pm, widely scattered showers will wax and wane across the waters of the Florida Keys, especially the eastern Straits of Florida and the nearshore waters surrounding the Island Chain, especially Florida Bay. Showers will continue to drift off to the west southwest across Florida Bay and to the south southeast across the Lower Keys. Mariners encountering the stronger activity may observe wind gusts of to near 25 knots and reduced visibility in heavy downpours. Some island communities can expect to receive an additional few hundredths to up to a quarter of an inch of rainfall with locally higher amounts in excess of a quarter of an inch possible, especially from Tavernier to Key Largo. $$ MJV
